Andrew Saville gets the One News sports job

Andrew Saville will replace Tony Veitch on One NewsAndrew Saville has been confirmed as the replacement for Tony Veitch as One News sports anchor, effective immediately. Jenny-May Coffin will present the sports news on Fridays and Saturdays, and be back-up to Saville.

Tony Veitch left the presenting role in July after allegations of assault against his former partner Kristen Dunne-Powell. He now faces charges of attacks on Ms Dunne-Powell over a period of four years.

Andrew Saville has been with One News since 2006 but has had a career in journalism for more than 15 years. His past experiences include roles at NewstalkZB and rugby commentating for Radio Sport.

"Andrew is a highly experienced rugby journalist and commentator, and he's equally comfortable reporting other sports. He has been to three Commonwealth Games and three Olympic Games," says Paul Patrick, One News at 6pm Editor.

The announcement came despite speculation that TV3's Shaun Summerfield and Howard Dobson were among the top contenders for the role.

One News sports reporter Toni Street will also provide additional backup for Saville and Coffin over the next couple of months.
